Kesari – A tale of 21 Sikh soldiers facing death instead of going against their ethics!
India is a country with so much history. No matter how many books we read or documentaries or movies we see, there’s still something undiscovered and something more.
Did you know that 21 Sikh soldiers in 1897 fought against 10,000 Afridi, Pashtun, and Orakzai soldiers for their land? I bet you didn’t. That’s the thing about Indian history, there might be many movies like Lagaan, Bajirao Mastaani , Tanha Ji , and Kesari the movie of those 21 Sikhs.
Kesari – The Storyline Ishar Singh is a Havaldar in the British Indian Army, and his superior is jealous of him because of his brave fighting skills. However, once, he helps an Afghan woman even after his superiors ask him not to. This leads to some relationship disputes between the British and Afghans.
Because of this breach of peace, Ishar is transferred to another regiment in Saragarhi fort, which sits between Gulistan and Lockhart fort. He sees that the officers here are in a total mess and imposes discipline there. After a while, Saidullah allied with the Afghans and decided to attack the British army. The British military sees the army coming towards Saragarhi fort, and they inform Ishar.
Ishar trains his office and tells them to be ready for the attack while the Britishers and his superiors ask Ishar to leave the fort and run, but the entire Battalion is Sikh, who are trained to never run from their duty. This is why all 21 Sikh soldiers get ready to face an army of 10,000 with limited weapons.
The movie shows how bravely all the soldiers fought the battle and didn’t run to save their lives. And at the end, when they knew that none of the Sikh soldiers was left alive, the entire British Parliament supported their bravery with a two-minute silence and posthumous awards.
Akshay Kumar played the role of Ishar Singh, and his energy is unmatchable; each second of his role is goosebumps worthy, just like he portrayed his acting skills in the latest movie Ram Setu .
Not just the movie, but the song ‘Teri Mitti’ and the lead singer got too famous. B Praak got the award for Best Playback Singer Male, and the song even got nominated in Filmfare awards for the best song of the year.
