A tale of a queen and other women of the castle who committed Sati after their husband’s demise.
There are an uncountable number of comedy, romantic, rom-com, drama, and sci-fi movies in Bollywood. However, still, there’s something about these limited historical drama movies that leave us awestruck. Take the example of Bajirao Mastaani , such a masterpiece; Deepika and Ranveer played their roles perfectly.
So I guess they would look perfect in another such movie, wouldn’t they? Padmaavat, or as some may know, Padmavati movie is another movie by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film is based on a poem of the same name and portrays the story of Rani Padmavati of Chittorgarh. Here’s everything about the Padmaavat movie and details about where to watch it.
Padmaavat – The Storyline
The story started in the 13th century when jalal-ud-din khalji was the ruler of the Khalji dynasty in Afghanistan. However, his evil nephew, Allaudin Khalji, Ranveer Singh, last seen in Cirkus takes over the dynasty and asks to marry her daughter Mehrunisa, Malika-i-Jahan.
On the other hand, in Singhal, now Sri Lanka, princess Padmavati, Deepika Padukone, last seen in Pathaan , accidentally wounds the king of Mewar, Ratan Singh,, Shahid Kapoor, last seen in Farzi , who came there to get some rare pearls for his wife Nagmati. Meanwhile, during Ratan Singh’s stay there, they fall in love, and Ratan Singh decides to marry her as his second wife.
After a while, Allaudin, who feels no shame or hesitation in attempting adultery, finds out how beautiful Rani Padmavati is and now wants to take over the Mewar dynasty so he can have control over their women, including the Rani as well. He and his army stayed in front of the Mewar fort for days in an attempt to make them surrender. But Rajputs are educated with such dignity and integrity that they never bow down in front of anyone and never even disrespect their guests.
But Allaudin, with no rules and ethics, kidnaps the king and even takes him with the army. This leads to war between the groups, and Alladin and his men unethically kill Raja Ratan Singh. While in Rajputs, they have a tradition for women who attempt Sati once they find out their husbands are dead so that no other men can touch them or even come closer to them. All the women of Chittorgarh do the same and attempt Sati together, while Allaudin couldn’t even have a glimpse of Rani Padmavati’s looks.
