Well, Aamir Khan (recently seen in Salaam Venky Laal Singh Chaddha ) is also seen as the lead role in the movie. The movie was rated 95% on rotten tomatoes and 8.1/10 on IMDb ratings. Furthermore, the movie is about villagers and the British Raj which was a part of India in 1893. The movie follows a great storyline.
Britishers used to ask for high taxes and due to many issues, poor villagers were not able to pay any taxes. So, later on, the Britishers challenge the Indians to a cricket match and if they win then they will lower the taxes.

The Storyline of the Movie “Lagaan” A farmer in Champaner village depends on monsoon rains to pay debts and to buy themselves things. But due to no rain, they go to British officials so that they can cancel their debt. A cricket match is underway between the Britishers. A younger farmer, Bhuvan, provokes them that anyone can play cricket.
So the Britishers challenge them to play a match with them and tell them that if they win then they will cancel their tax for the upcoming two years but if they lose the match then they have to pay triple tax. Everyone becomes happy after hearing that but also gets tensed as cricket is a new game for them but later on Bhuvan accepts when Andrew, the British cricket team captain raises the stake.
The elders become tense as they have to pay triple tax. Furthermore, Elizabeth, Andrew’s sister, offers help to the villagers and says she will teach them the basics of cricket. Lakha, a male member of the team is jealous of Bhuvan because of their interest in the same girl. tells Andrew about his sister helping them. He tells his sister to not go outside the cantonment area.
But he is unaware that his sister has developed feelings for Bhuvan. She keeps sneaking out to help them. Gauri who likes Bhuvan gets jealous as she sees both of them getting close. The match begins for the next three days. Andrew’s team plays well but the Indian team’s player keeps getting out. Till the last day, Bhuvan stretched the match playing well and to win the game they had to score more runs than the Britishers.
Kachra, an Indian team player scores one run and everyone thinks they lost the match but Empire signals that it was a no-ball. Bhuvan comes on strike and hits a six. Elizabeth runs towards him but gets heartbroken when she sees Gauri hugging him. Their tax for 3 years gets cancelled and the Britishers return to England.
