Irani’s story writing for the movie got him an award at 46th Filmfare Awards.
Directed by Kundan Shah, Kya Kehna is a Hindi language bollywood movie which was released in 2000. The movie got positive ratings because of the amazing storyline and best cast as no other stars would have done such an amazing acting.
The movie stars Preity Zinta who is one of the few Bollywood stars who own a Cricket team , alongside her, Saif Ali Khan stars as the lead role. The film is about a girl who falls in love with a play boy and gets dumped by him when she gets pregnant. Later on her family disabandons her but soon she sees a ray of hope.

The Storyline of the Movie Kya Kehna Priya Bakshi is a bubbly girl who is the daughter of Gulshan and Rohini Bakshi. Priya’s parents, brother, and best friend support her in every decision. On the other hand, Ajay is in love with Priya and wants to marry her in the future but she is unaware of the fact. Soon her first year of college begins and she falls in love with a playboy Rahul.
He also becomes attracted to her but his reputation and womanizing several women worry Priya’s family. Priya is madly in love with Rahul and thinks that he is in love with her too. Their relationship begins and they have sex. Priya convinces her parents to meet Rahul and they agree. Her parents start questioning him about marriage and he leaves after making some vague reasons.
Priya is heartbroken and moves on with her life. Later on, she finds out that she is pregnant with Rahul’s child. Her family plans to talk to his family but they refuse to let their son marry Priya. Even she convinces Rahul but he denies it. Rahul’s mother mistreats her and thinks her family is there because they need financial support. Priya chooses to keep the child.
Her decision makes her family angry and she is asked to leave the house. She feels devastated by everything but later on, her family brings her back and supports her during pregnancy. She goes back to college but faces humiliation as Rahul’s mother, who is a board member, tries to tell all the parents that Priya should be expelled from the college.
After facing humiliation Priya realizes that Ajay loves her. At a college event, her classmates give a performance and mock Priya for her pregnancy. She gives a speech that she is not the only one who should be blamed and gets the support of classmates and Rahul’s family. Ajay confesses his love for her but her water breaks. Rahul reaches her house to apologize to her family.
There is a function arranged to celebrate the birth of the baby. Rahul reaches there and proposes. Priya rejects him and confesses her feelings for Ajay.
