The Movie Varisu- Short Review Vijay Rajendran is the youngest son of a billionaire but soon gets kicked out by his father as he refuses to join the family business and wants to begin his own startup. After seven years, he gets to know that his father has only 7 to 8 months to live. His father tells his elder brothers to be a part of his 65th birthday celebration where he will announce his successor. Vijay’s mother insists him to join the family.
The Times of India said “The overall writing in the scenes is also quite broad, which lessens the emotional impact of the scenes, especially in the first half. The pacing, too, is uneven and Vamshi even includes unnecessary songs and one too many fights that turn the film into an overlong affair.
But he makes up for all of it through his leading star. Vijay is in terrific form, cracking one-liners that have us break out into a smile, exchanging comic counters with Yogi Babu (who is quite funny, after a long time), making self-referential punches (a scene involving a boardroom meeting is a riot!), and showing earnestness to make us buy the sentimental moments.”
The Hindu praised Vijay’s acting and said “After a long time, it is heartening to see him get back to being humourous and goofy. There are plenty of moments in the second half – especially during his conversations with his brothers and Prakash Raj’s gang – during which Vijay goes back to having fun and being the hero we loved a few decades back before he became too socially conscious in his roles. Beyond Varisu’s staid plot and saccharine emotional beats, that’s what stays in your mind in this Vamshi Paidipally directorial.”

Some Unseen Facts About Varisu Earlier the script was written considering Mahesh Babu as the lead role but as he was not able to sign the contract the movie makers asked several other actors like Allu Arjun , Ram Charan , and Bahubali famed Prabhas, and in the end, Vijay signed the contract. According to some sources, Vijay has charged 150 crores and Rashmika charged 4 crores for the film which made them the highest-paid actors.
In an interview with the Telugu channel, the producer of the film said “In Tamil Nadu, Ajith sir’s film is coming out with my film. In Tamil Nadu, Vijay sir is the number 1 star. Everybody knows that. There are 800-odd screens in the state and I’m begging them to give me more than 400 screens. I’m requesting at least 50 more screens. This is business. Even though I have a big film, I have to beg for screens. It’s not a monopoly, right?”

Is Varisu a Family Entertainer Only? Most people think that Varisu’s story just revolves around a family. But let us tell you that the story has much more to offer. It has romance and most importantly remarkable action. During an interview, the film director, Vamshi Paidipally said “This film will be more than a family entertainer. Because with Vijay sir, I can’t keep it limited,” stated the talented filmmaker.”
“This film is not genre-based. Because when we cater to a larger section of audiences, you should add all the genres into it. Yes, the base of the film is a family drama. But all the factors that Vijay sir needs, everything his fans demand – we put Vijay sir’s image in mind and did so many things around that. Every section of the audience – from kids to seniors – can watch Varisu and enjoy it.”
Why Rashmika Mandanna Did Varisu? During an interview with Film Companion, Rashmika Mandanna opened up about why she did the film. She said “I think this was my choice to do the film and I knew that I literally had two songs and I had to kill it in those two songs. This was actually an inside joke and I used to go to Vijay sir and say ‘I have nothing to do except the two songs.’ This was a conscious decision and I wanted to be a part of the film because I wanted to work with Vijay sir because I have admired him for the longest time. For me, as an actor, it’s about going to the set and learning the little things from the people you are working with .” She added “I wanted to be a part of this film even if I didn’t have anything. And as an actor, I want to be ok doing everything. I want to be a part of the commercial entertainers. I am ok with it and I don’t want to be typecast.”
