The movie Daana Paani is a popular romantic Punjabi movie that was released in 2018. The movie was immensely praised for its theme and performances. The handsome hunk Jimmy Shergill, who was last seen in Netflix’s web series Choona, has played the lead role in the movie against the bubbly Simi Chahal.
The movie talks about a lonely soldier who has no one in life and an oppressed village girl who has everyone around her but is still not happy. But God has different plans for them, and this is what the story is about. The title “Daana Paani ” symbolizes god’s will just like Rabb Da Radio ; we cannot challenge what the almighty has decided for us, and one way or another, we will find what or who is destined for us.
The Storyline of the Punjabi Movie Daana Paani The movie opens with an interview with old Basant Kaur (Nirmal Rishi), who was last seen in Godday Godday Chaa , where she narrates the story of her life.
She reminisces about how she met her late husband. When Basant Kaur was a child, she lost her father to a snake bite and her aunts started to mistreat her mother. Due to this, she had to leave the house, but they manipulated Basant to stay at her grandfather’s place, where she starts missing her mother, who is re-married and now lives in the village of Khiwa.
Basant was engaged to a boy named Mehtaab Singh from the same village when they were kids, and since then, Basant has started dreaming about meeting her mother once again.
But, after a few years, Mehtaab Singh dies in a war and another fellow army officer comes to inform him about the death of Basant Kaur’s (Simi Chahal) husband. That officer is the namesake of her husband and he is Mehtaab Singh too. So, Basant’s brother decided to get them both married without informing the family about the death of Basant’s real husband. But, during the wedding processions, Bheem Singh, Mehtaab’s senior officer, identifies him and halts the marriage. However, Bahadur Singh (Gurpreet Ghuggi) convinces the family and Basant and Mehtaab unite. After marriage, Basant met her mother and lived the rest of her life happily with her mother and husband.
