“Dance apne aap mein ek nasha hai. Jab yeh nasha ho, aur koi nasha nahi ho sakta” these two lines superbly sum up the gist of the movie without giving away too much.
ABCD: Anybody Can Dance, India’s first 3D dance film, is directed by Remo D’Souza and was released on 8 February 2013. The entire team including Prabhudeva who directed a number of hit movies like Ramaiya Vastavaiya , Wanted and Remo D’Souza did a fab job bringing the story of talent in the streets and every nook and corner of the country.
While a segment of the audience swoons over the killer dance moves, another portion feels that dances in ABCD are just a combination of yoga, aerobics, and gymnastics, which lacks the grace of Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi.
Apart from this ABCD is a decent watch with an emotional plot and a handful of surprises to go!
The Storyline of The Movie ‘ABCD’ Any Body Can Dance
The movie is centered around Vishnu and his struggle to mentor a group of young boys who have what it takes to be the best dance group in the country but lack discipline. Vishnu, played by Prabhudeva, is toppled from one of the best dance academies by his partner, Jehangir.
The reason, however, is their diverging ideologies, while Vishnu wanted to place his bet on talent, Jehangir preferred fame and trophies. After quitting his job at the JDC, Vishnu was keen on returning to Chennai and starting all over, but he was stopped by his friend Gopi. This decision to stay back transforms into a blessing in disguise for Vishnu as he comes across some street boys who have the chops for dancing professionally.
After overcoming some internal conflicts and external turbulence, Vishnu finally manages to get the team together to form a dance group that is dignitary and skilled enough to compete with Jehangir’s team at the “Dance Dil Se” competition. Soon after, they get selected and reach the semi-finals!!
But what happens when they lose one of their team members, Chandu, to an accident just a day before the semi-finals? Will the dance team succumb to grief? Or will they channel their grief to fulfill the dream they saw together as a team and defeat JDC? To find answers to these questions, you’ll have to watch the movie!
