The Hindi-language movie Ankahi Kahaniya, which was released in 2021, was written by Piyush Gupta, Hussain Haidry, Shreyas Jain, Zeenat Lakhani, and Nitesh Tiwari. It was directed by Abhishek Chaubey, Saket Chaudhary, and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, and starred Abhishek Banerjee, Rinku Rajguru, Delzad Hiwale. Netflix made it available on September 17, 2021.
“Ankahi Kahaniya” highlights three urban stories of lone individuals attempting to deal with loneliness, love, loss, and desire.
Ankahi Kahania: Storyline Pradeep (Abhishek Banerjee), a villager trapped in a busy city with only loneliness for company, is the main character in 1st episode. He is an employee of a clothing store. He comes first and departs last. He doesn’t even have somebody to welcome him home.
When a female dummy is brought into the store, his life changes dramatically. He develops feelings for the dummy. He pampers her, takes her out on dates, puts her in the best clothes, and dances with her in the dark, just like one would with a real companion. Even a name is given by him. He gives a name to the dummy.
The 2nd episode, which was taken from a Kannada story by the poet Jayant Kaikini (Madhyantara), tells the lost tales of unknown characters who are only looking for a way out of their situations in order to discover who they are.
The story follows two young people as their lives intersect in a single-screen movie theatre. Theatre attendant Nandu (Delzad Hiwale) is a multitasker. Manjari (Rinku Rajguru) makes a side income from embroidery while she and her family live in a chawl.
In the 3rd episode, two strangers come into contact with one another through their spouses. Tanu learns that her husband is cheating on her on their wedding anniversary. She learns about the girl and gets in touch with Manav, the girl’s husband. Though he denies the charge, he finds out that it might as well be true because Tanu had shown him that his wife was wearing the same jewelry.
The search for their respective spouses’ affair begins at this point. Tanu extends an invitation to Manav to the hotel she assumes was the origin of the adultery.
