The Storyline of The Movie Barfi The movie starts in 1972 in Darjeeling where Murphy ‘Barfi’, Ranbir Kapoor, last seen in Tu Jhoothi Mai Makkar and goind to appear in next big venture Brahmastra 2 , is a young mute and deaf boy known for his troublemaking in the town. Soon he meets Shruti who is a well-educated girl and is about to marry the man of her dreams.
They start to spend time together and get to know each other. Barfi starts to have feelings for her, but Shruti’s mother denies her from marrying him because of his lack of money and his disabilities. After a while, Barfi’s father suffers from kidney failure and Barfi is asked to arrange Rs. 7000 for his surgery. For this, Barfi plans to fake a kidnap of Jhilmil, Priyanka Chopra, last seen in The White Tiger , his childhood friend who is also autistic.
But it turns out that Jhilmil has been seriously kidnapped by someone for money. Barfi somehow gets the ransom money, but his father dies just after that. When Barfi takes Jhilmil back, she denies going back to her home and asks him to take her with him. They both reach Kolkata.
After 6 years, Barfi reunites with Shruti who is unhappy with her marriage with Ranjeet. She rejoins her friendship with Barfi and is quite jealous of Jhilmil. Soon Jhilmil goes missing and Shruti files a complaint against her, there inspector Dutta finds Barfi and takes him back to Darjeeling. They find out that Jhilmil is apparently killed in the kidnapping and tries to frame Barfi for it, but her body hasn’t been found yet.
Now, what’s there to see is how they are going to find the real culprits and where Jhilmil is now.
