OTT platforms have seen massive growth in times of pandemic. Many movies are getting released on platforms like Netflix and Prime Video, and some movies are released on OTTs after a few weeks of their theatrical release.
There are two movies, Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya and Hrithik Roshan’s Vikram Vedha , which have made headlines for not releasing on any OTT platform. Generally, a movie is released on an OTT platform within 3-4 weeks of theatrical release.
Fans have their own speculations as to why the movies are not yet available on any OTT platform and if the filmmakers ever plan to release them on any platform. Both movies received a lot of love from fans and critics equally.
‘Bhediya’ Movie OTT Release Date Bhediya was much awaited by fans as it is said to be the first big-budget werewolf movie in India. Bhediya is a horror comedy starring Student of the Year Famed Varun Dhawan (last seen as ‘Kukoo Saini’ in Jug Jugg Jeeyo ) and Kriti Sanon (Critically acclaimed for her role in Mimi ) in lead roles. And Shraddha Kapoor (Tu Jhooti Main Makkar , Baaghi 3 ), Rajkumar Rao (Bheed , Monica, O My Darling ), and Aparshakti Khurana (Stree , Dangal ) make special appearances.
The Plot of the ‘Bhediya’ Movie In the movie, Varun plays the character of a building contractor with relatively low morals and is only concerned about making money. The movie is set in the forests of Arunachal Pradesh. On a full-moon night, Varun’s character ‘Bhaskar’ is bitten by a werewolf which leads him to change into a shape-shifting character.
The movie depicts how a werewolf who is trying to save the environment and a human who is willing to sacrifice anything for the monetary sake survive in the same body. As the story unfolds, Bhaskar eventually realizes the importance and value of nature. Writer Niren Bhatt has also very well tried to cast a light upon the discrimination faced by the people of the northeastern part of India.
“The biggest challenge was to incorporate the culture and the lens through which the rest of India is looking at Northeast, the prejudices, the alienation of those people, the casual discrimination and what they go through, etc. The root of this discrimination is the thinking that they are not part of India; even if they are, you are not interested in them because they are so far away,” he stated.
Even though the movie was not a big hit at the box office, fans are eagerly waiting for the OTT release of the movie. The fact that Bhediya is a family entertainer makes it perfect for the Indian audience.

Vikram Vedha OTT Release Date Vikram Vedha is the Hindi remake of a 2017 Tamil movie of the same name. One of the best dancer of Bollywood and the national crush of India – Hrithik Roshan (last appeared as ‘Major Kabir Dhaliwal ’ in War movie) and Saif Ali Khan can be seen in the lead role, and the supporting cast includes Radhika Apte (Andhadhun , Padman ), Rohit Saraf (Mismatched ), and Vijay Sethupathi (Master , Farzi ). The Tamil version of the movie had R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles and was released in the year 2017.

Makers of the movie said that the story was inspired by Hindu mythological characters ‘Vikram and Betal ’. Vikram is on his mission to hunt down the renowned gangster, Veda, whose stories force Vikram to question his black-and-white ideologies.
Krrish starrer Hrithik even had to face backlash before the release of the movie when he showed his support for Amir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha . People even trended the hashtag #BoycottVikramVedha on Twitter.
