The Astraverse trilogy of Ayan Mukherjee, based on Indian mythology, will soon release its second part.
On 9 September 2022, the Brahmastra universe inspired by Indian Mythology was presented to the audience in a visually appealing manner as a full-length film, Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva . It was a huge commercial success earning over ₹ 400 crores, and much to the fancy of its fans, the movie ended with a tease of its sequel.
The movie depicted the story of a group of learned men in the Himalayas who have access to certain ‘Astras,’ Brahmastra being the most powerful of all the astras, being chased by evil and being protected by the Brahmasnh. Since ancient India, this group has remained secretive in a society named ‘Brahmansh’.
Rockstar famed Ranbir Kapoor essayed the role of Shiva, an orphan who has an unexplained relationship with fire. Alia Bhatt was seen in the role of Isha Chatterjee, who is a non-resident Indian visiting India for Durga Pooja.
Isha and Shiva cross paths at Isha’s grandfather’s pandal, and there is an instant connection between the two! The movie unfurls many details about Shiva, his parents, various mythological incidents happening around him, and the Brahmansh.
There were many special appearances in the movie by Amitabh Bachchan as the guru of Brahmansh, along with special appearances by Nagarjuna Akkineni (who played the lead role in Bangarraju movie), Dimple Kapadia, Shah Rukh Khan , and Deepika Padukone .
Ever since the fans got over the craze of Brahmastra Part One: Shiva, they have been waiting with bated breaths for its sequel, ‘Brahmastra Part 2: Dev’.

The Release Date of ‘Brahmastra: Part Two: Dev’
Yes, there will be a sequel to Brahmastra Part One: Shiva; however, some rumors were doing rounds all over the internet regarding the second part taking close to a decade to hit the theatres just as its prequel.
Brushing aside the rumors regarding the delay in the release of the sequel to Brahmastra part one, in an interview with News18, Ayan Mukherjee, director of the first installment of India’s one-of-a-kind Astraverse trilogy, Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, revealed,
“We’re at it. (It will take) a couple of years. And that’s one hundred percent better than ten years. If we take another ten years, nobody will come to watch Brahmastra 2. We’re going to get it ready before that.”
As per the makers, the movie is most likely to go on floors by December 2025. So, one thing is for sure you won’t have to wait for another decade for the sequel.

The Expected Storyline of the Brahmastra: Part Two: Dev
If reports are to be believed, Ayan Mukherjee has chosen the story of Mahadev and Parvati for the second installment of the Brahmastra trilogy. Interestingly, Shiv and Isha are other names for Mahadev and Parvati, respectively.
In the first part, it was revealed by Amitabh Bachchan (last seen in Uunchai and Goodbye ) says that Shiva’s parents are two members of the Brahmansh – Dev and Amrita. Thirty years prior to the film’s events, Dev wanted to establish his control over the entire Brahmansh, but Amrita’s Jalastra stopped him.
We’ll witness the rivalry between Dev and his son, Shiva, which will be interesting to watch, considering the fact that Dev is mighty powerful and Shiva is weak in comparison. This also hints at the fact that the second part will depict the story of Shiva’s parents and the reason for Shiva’s powers and relation with fire.
In a recent interview with PTI, Ayan Mukherjee spilled some beans; he said, ‘Part two: Dev ’ will be a darker and juicier story in terms of drama and conflict. The follow-ups will be darker for sure.”
The Starcast Update of Brahmastra: Part 2
If we are to go by the speculations, then the number one rank holder in the list of the national crush of India male category, Hrithik Roshan (last seen in Vikram Vedha ) declined the role of Dev as he is already filming Krrish 4 and Ramayana , which are VFX-heavy projects just like the Brahmastra series.
They will take a long time to complete, and the superstar is interested in doing more films in this decade than spending his time and energy on three VFX-dominated movies.
Nevertheless, there are many intriguing fan theories that are doing rounds all over the internet regarding the storyline and cast of the movie. While some fans claim the Gully Boy of Bollywood Ranveer Singh will play the main lead, others claim that the War & Super 30 starrer Hrithik Roshan is chosen for the role of Dev.
Without any official announcement by the makers, fans seem pretty confident that one of the top 10 hottest Bollywood mature actresses and Bajirao Mastani starrer, Deepika Padukone, will star in the role of Amrita alongside Dev’s character as she made an uncredited appearance in the first part of the movie for a split second as Dev’s mother.
Keeping the controversy alive, makers are not giving any hints regarding changes in the star cast of ‘Brahmastra Part 2: Dev’.
Have They Begun Filming Brahmastra: Part 2?
Shooting for Brahmastra: Part 2 will most likely begin by the end of 2023 or in the first quarter of 2024, as revealed by one of the top 10 richest Bollywood actors , Ranbir Kapoor, in his recent interview with Pinkvilla.
He said that post the shooting of ‘Animal’, he will take a break to spend quality time with his daughter, Raha, who was born to the couple (Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt) on 6th November 2022.
Hence, the shooting of Brahmastra will begin only towards the end of 2023 or by the beginning of 2024. Currently, Ayan Mukherjee is busy writing the scripts for both parts 2 and 3.
