Directed by Yash Chopra, as the name suggests, Darr is a violent love story! A love so fierce that instills fear in the one who is being loved. Shah Rukh Khan plays the role of the obsessed lover of a beautiful girl, Kiran, played by Juhi Chawal. Darr is the movie that got Shah Rukh Khan his ticket to stardom.
The Overview of the Movie ‘Darr’ Kiran is a beautiful young woman who recently graduated from college and is returning back home. To her oblivion, on her way back home, she is followed by her classmate, Rahul. However, Kiran has a boyfriend, Sunil Malhotra, a brave navy man whom she loves wholeheartedly.
Rahul is Kiran’s obsessive lover; he stalks her and harasses her mentally and physically. His love for Kiran is close to insanity and madness. He plays Kiran’s full-length images on a projector on the walls of his room.
Rahul calls her frequently and crashes her holi party and birthday. His actions implant fears in the minds of Kiran and his family. Interestingly enough, Rahul is the son of Sunil’s boss. Hence, he tries to get close to Sunil in order to get closer to Kiran.
Nonetheless, Rahul loses it and tries to kill Sunil when he learns of Kiran and Sunil’s engagement. Kiran, fearful for the life of her lover, Kiran decides to leave the city in the hope that her stalker, whom she had never ever seen, will leave Sunil alone in her absence.
However, Sunil rushes to stop Kiran from leaving, and he marries her that night. Furious and heartbroken, Rahul destroys their new house with graffiti on the walls. He wrote things like “Tum Meri Ho Kiran” and “Shaadi Mubarak Kiran”.
Sunil and Kiran decided to take a holiday to Switzerland to escape the madness and instructed their families not to disclose their location to anyone. Frenzied, Rahul attempts every desperate measure to find out Kiran’s location and succeeds in the end.
He travels to Switzerland and pretends to meet the couple by chance. Certainly, Sunil and Kiran recognize him and ask him to join them. Soon enough, Sunil realizes that Rahul is, in fact, the stalker. Hence, he invites him on a boat to talk to him one on one. Things go against Sunil as Rahul stabs him and leaves him on the boat to die.
As predicted, Rahul rushes to Kiran and forces her to marry him; petrified, Kiran locks herself up in a room. The movie ends with Sunil coming back to save Kiran and killing Rahul. The duo returns to India and lives happily ever after.
