The Storyline of Dil Se Movie
Amar Varma (portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan) is sent on a short-term consignment from the national capital to one of the Northern provinces as a journalist to represent the All India Radio.
As he spends some time there, he becomes inquisitive about an illegally formed separatist movement that is committing acts of terrorism to free themselves of India’s suppression.
He meets the head of the group behind closed doors and interviews him–but can’t comprehend the group’s objections against the establishment. “We are all Indians, aren’t we?” he asks guilelessly.
After this incident, he also encounters an enigmatic village woman named Meghna at a train station first and then later in town, and is instantaneously attracted to the sadness in her tired eyes. After some time, she reveals that the laughter from her life had vanished when she was just a child of 8 years and did not ever return.
Meghna is least interested in Amar, but his obsession only grows on her, and he decides to continue the chase even after her brothers beat the hell out of him.
Eventually, he is summoned back to the capitol and realizes half-heartedly that this love story was not meant to see completion. Upon returning to Delhi, he finds out that his family has found a woman to whom they want him to get married. This would-be bride comes in the form of Preeti (portrayed by Preity Zinta), an adorable and backed by a Western influence woman who in actuality, makes a much better match for Amar than did his village fantasy.
Drawing curtains to his admiration for the village girl, he decides to marry Preeti, and a wedding date is scheduled- but then quite dramatically, Meghna pays a visit on his doorstep asking for a place to stay, and Amar does not deny her that place. She is, in fact, in Delhi to commit an act that shall remain not talked about until one watches the movie.
