Storyline of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge The plot of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) is about two NRIs (Non-resident Indians) liivng in London, Simran, and Raj, who are brought up in a totally different set of families. While Raj is raised by a liberal father, Dharamvir Malhotra, Simran is brought up in a strict household. However, Simran still believes in the romantic fantasy of meeting her ideal man someday, but her mother Lajjo warns her about such a mindset. Then, her wedding to Kuljeet, the son of her father’s friend Ajit, as they had made a promise 20 years ago to have them both get married one day. And by this, Simran gets disappointed.
She somehow manages to convince her father Baldev (played by late actor Amrish Puri, known for his epic dialogues ), and bring him to say yes to letting her go on the trip with friends to a trip to Europe. On the other hand, Raj shows up at Bladev’s shop to buy beer and misbehaves with him when he says no, throwing money at the counter and flees away. This leaves a bad impact on Baldev. Raj also ends up going on the same trip as Simran, but both of them miss their train.
Raj flirts with Simran throughout the journey and this irritates her, but as they travel together, they become friends. When they part ways in London, Raj had already fallen for her and Simran realises that she has fallen in love with him as well. How will this story unfold?
