Bhumi Pednekar and Ayushmann Khurrana both are talented actors, and when both come together, Dum Laga Ke Haisha happens.
Directed by Sharat Kataria, ‘Dum Laga ke Haisha’ is the debut movie of Bhumi Pednekar. The story revolves around Prem and Sandhya, who get married; however, Prem doesn’t accept her as his wife wholeheartedly. Prem doesn’t see beyond her weight, while Sunaina tries her best to attract Prem.
The Storyline of The Movie ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ Dum Laga Ke Haisha is the story of Prem Prakash Tiwari and Sandhya set in Haridwar. Prem, a school dropout, is the owner of a video cassette store in the local market; on the other hand, Sandhya aspires to be a school teacher.
Prem’s family is keen to get him married to Sandhya in the hope of generating an additional source of income for the family from Sandhya’s salary. Prem isn’t too keen on the match as Sandhya is overweight. However, he eventually agrees to marry her as his family reminds him of the harsh reality of him being a school dropout. Hence, he won’t find a better match.
The duo gets married, and Prem’s evident disinterest in Sandhya leads her to try harder to get him attracted to her. With time, they do have sex, but the situation hasn’t improved; Prem still feels embarrassed to even walk with his wife.
Things take an ugly turn when at his friend’s wedding, drunk Prem expresses his jealousy over his friend’s beautiful wife and the happiness-deprived life he has with his wife. He speaks about how making love to her feels like hell.

Sandhya overhears everything and slaps him in front of everyone; Prem slaps her back. This incident led Sandhya to reflect upon everything that she has been through in her married life; she decides to stand up for herself and leave Prem, who doesn’t care about her.

Prem’s family tries to meddle between the two and sort things out but to no avail. Then comes a ray of hope in the form of a couple-based competition in which the husband has to race while carrying his wife on his shoulders, and Prem’s family somehow convinces them to take part in it.
They stay together till the competition, during which Sandhya helps Prem in his studies, and Prem starts to see a side of Sandhya that he previously ignored. As expected, Prem somehow manages to win the race and get Sandhya back in his life, and the duo seals their newfound love with a kiss.
