Gully Boy is the story of ‘Rags to Riches’ of Murad, who dwells in Mumbai’s slums but has big ambitions. Gully Boy premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival on 9th February 2019. This movie will take you on the journey of Murad’s life and his girlfriend, Safeena.
Starring Ranveer Singh as Murad and Alia Bhatt in the role of Safeena, Gully Boy is a classical Bollywood movie that will make you laugh, smile, and cry.
The Storyline of The Movie ‘Gully Boy’ Gully Boy is the story of Murad Ahmed, a final year college student who lives in the Dharavi slums of Mumbai with his abusive father, his mother, a very young stepmother, his brother, and his grandmother. Frustrated by his life, his only two solaces are his girlfriend and music. Murad writes about his life and whatever he observes around him in his diary with a secret desire to become a rapper like his idol Eminem.
His girlfriend, Safeena is an aspiring surgeon; she is extremely possessive of him and can go to any lengths to keep girls away from him.
At his college fest, Murad gets in touch with a local rapper MC Sher, who guides him and helps him to hone his rapping skills. One of their videos goes viral on YouTube, and a record producer from Berklee College, Sky, contacts them for a video.
During the shoot of the song, Sky and Murad get close to each other and end up kissing each other. Later on, when Safeena learns of this, she doesn’t think twice before smashing the bottle on Sky’s head. Sky doesn’t press charges against her, but Murad breaks up with Safeena because of her over-possessiveness. The duo eventually gets back together towards the end.
Meanwhile, Murad’s father becomes more violent with him, his brother, and his mother, who persuades Murad to leave his home along with his mother and brother. At the same time, MC Sher and Murad enter into a contest to open for Nas at his upcoming concert in Mumbai.
Things work in Murad’s favor as he goes on to win the contest and gets the opportunity to open for Nas. The film ends with Murad on stage and Safeena, his mother, his brother, and his father cheering for him proudly with tears of happiness in their eyes.
