Wanting an explanation for his father’s disappearance, a young student returns to conflict-ridden Kashmir. But instead of getting a direct answer, he gets sucked into politics.
The movie ‘Haider’ is an Indian Hindi-Language film. It is also a modern-day- adaption of William Shakespeare’s famous tragedy work Hamlet. The film was written, produced, and directed by Vishal Bhardwaj by himself.
There have been numerous adaptations of Hamlet, but very few can captivate audiences and garner favorable reviews, while ‘Haider’ has done just that. The actors and Haider’s crew have all received praise for their outstanding performance and execution. After “Maqbool”, which is based on Macbeth, and “Omkara”, which is based on Othello, “Haider” is the third installment of Vishal Bhardwaj’s successful Shakespearean trilogy.
The Storyline of the Movie ‘Haider’ The story takes place during the insurgency in Kashmir. It opens with Hilaal Meer (Narendra Jha, last seen in Race 3 ) operating on a terrorist group’s leader in his home. Hilaal goes through with the surgery despite the objections of his wife, Ghazala (Tabu last seen in Drishyam 2) . but he is caught during a military raid and taken into custody for questioning.
Haider, played by Shahid Kapoor, returns to Kashmir in search of answers after learning of his father Hilaal’s disappearance. But instead, he sees his mother and his uncle Khurram, played by Kay Kay Menon, last seen in Farzi , laughing and dancing together. Haider, perplexed, sets out to discover the truth about his father’s disappearance and meets his lover Arshia (Shraddha Kapoor last seen in Batti Gul Meter Chalu ), a journalist who assists him in locating him. But Haider is distraught and perplexed as he begins to learn the truth.
