Sometimes we are not able to speak up our feelings but movies help us as we can relate to some of them.
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Hum Dil De Chuke Hai Sanam was released in 1999 and became one of the highest grossing movies of that respective year. The movie even won several awards. Even the Bengali movie Neel Akasher Chandni was inspired by this movie.
The starring actors of the movie are Salman Khan famous for his role in Ek tha Tiger , Aishwarya Rai who also appeared in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil , Ponniyin Selvan and Ajay Devgn who recently was the protagonist in Drishyam 2 .

Hum Dil De Chuke Hai Sanam- Storyline Nandini, daughter of Pandit Darbar a famous person who is known for his Indian Classical Music. Soon it is announced that Sameer, a young gentleman is arriving to know and learn the basic things of Indian Classical music under the guidance of Pandit Darbar. When Sameer arrives, Nandini is forced to leave her room as Sameer has to shift in it.
They both start pranking each other as they don’t like each other at first sight but soon they fall deeply in love. Furthermore, they start attending festivals and weddings together to spend some more time with each other. One day, Pundit catches them when they both were rehearsing wedding vows. The music teacher gets worried as he already planned Nandini’s wedding with a lawyer named Vanraj who also fell in love with Nandini during her cousin’s wedding.
Pundit asks Sameer to leave his house and quits singing as Nandini has humiliated him by falling in love with Sameer. Sameer is forced to swear that he will never meet Nandini in future while he leaves for Italy. But his love is not that weak. He keeps sending letters to Nandini but she doesn’t get them. Nandini’s father forced her to marry Vanraj after she attempts suicide.
On the wedding night, Nandini acts cold around him and doesn’t let him touch her. He asks for a valid reason but she refuses to speak even a word. Later on, Nandini receives Sameer’s letter and Vanraj catches him reading all the letters. He plans to send her home back but then he plans to let her go to Sameer as they both love each other so much. Vanraj informs his family and they accept it after denying it several times.
Vanraj and Nandini leave for Italy where they try to find Vanraj. During searching Sameer they both get mugged and Nandini is shot by them too. Vanraj starts caring for him and this warms up her heart. One day, they finally locate Sameer through his mother and Vanraj disheartedly plans to arrange a wedding for them after Sameer’s concert and also prepares for a final goodbye.
After meeting Sameer, she apologises and tells that she has fallen in love with Vanraj after seeing how he cared for him on the whole trip and she further tells him Vanraj is her true soulmate. Sameer accepts the reality and sobs after going home when his mother comforts him. Later on, Nandini looks for Vanraj and accepts that she has feelings for him only. Vanraj adorns her mangalsutra.
