A young man falls in love with a girl who has promised herself to someone else. Though his feelings aren’t reciprocated, he continues to love her and help her from the sidelines.
‘Kutty’, released in 2010, is a romantic Tamil movie starring Dhanush, who gave incredible performances in Karnan and Vada Chennai , Shriya Saran, and Sameer Dattani. The film is a remake of the 2004 Telugu film ‘Arya’; suffice it to say that “Kutty” was just as successful. The film’s favorable reviews were largely attributable to the actors’ performances, as was the fact that it was released simultaneously with Thai Pongal, a Tamil festival.
The Storyline of the Movie ‘Kutty’
Geetha (Shriya Saran last seen in Tadka and Drishyam 2 ) and her friends are enjoying the sunrise at a beach in Kanyakumari at the film’s beginning. Geetha opens a diary she finds at the beach with no one’s initials.
She finds a poem in it that moves her, writes a response to the poem in the same diary, and returns it to where she had found it. She tries to retrieve her anklet when it falls into the sea later, but it has already been washed away.
She sees a man dive into the water to retrieve her anklet a little further down the beach, but he doesn’t come back up. Geetha believes he passed away while attempting to retrieve her anklet. The movie now continues in the present time, where Geetha meets Arjun (Sameer Dattani) in her college in Chennai. Arjun professes his love for her, but Geetha refuses him. Not being able to take a no, Arjun threatens Geetha with his life making her feel guilty and eventually agreeing to his proposal.
After witnessing this, Kutty (Dhanush) professes his love to Geetha in front of Arjun. Both male leads challenge each other to see who wins Geetha’s love, but Kutty fails as Geetha feels guilty about Arjun and has already said yes to Arjun.
While Geetha and Arjun’s relationship was going strong, it could not stay the same in the fast-approaching future, where a secret would change everything.
