An aspiring actor who is madly in love with a female superstar is murdered in the 1970s while trying to save his crush. Still, he is reincarnated after 30 years and seeks revenge.

The Storyline of the Movie ‘Om Shanti Om’ The film starts in 1977 when Om Prakash Makhija, played by Shah Rukh Khan, is a poor struggling actor in Bollywood who lives with his mother Bela (Kirron Kher) and friend Pappu (Shreyas Talpade). Om is in love with the superstar Shantipriya Kashyap (Deepika Padukone) and wants to be her co-actor one day. Om and Pappu take up a small role in a film where he ends up meeting Shantipriya, and the two become friends after Om saves her from a fire.
Om is ecstatic about his friendship with Shanti, but not for too long. When Shanti tells Om about her marriage with Mukesh (Arjun Rampal), a famous film producer, Om is heartbroken. The next night Shanti tells Mukesh about her pregnancy, but Mukesh is not happy with it. He brings Shanti to the set of Om Shanti Om at night and sets fire to the film set, unaware of Om’s presence, who has seen Mukesh lighting fire on the film set. The movie then skips to 2007, when Om gets reincarnated as Om Kapoor, a rich superstar. Om visits the now burned-down studio of Om Shanti Om and has flashbacks of his previous life.
After Om remembers his previous life, he contacts Bela and Pappu and forms a plan to take revenge on Mukesh. Om decides to resume the filming of Om Shanti Om and starts an audition for the female role, where he meets Sandy, the doppelganger of Shanti.
After preparing everything, Om tries to scare Mukesh by secretly enacting the past incidents in front of him, but things go astray when he finds himself in danger, yet again at the end of the movie.
