In 18-Century, India, a war commenced between Sadashivrao Bhau of the Marathas and Ahmad Shah Abdali of the Afghans.

The Storyline of the Movie ‘Panipat’
The storyline revolves around the Sadashivrao Bhau (Arjun Kapoor), a commander in Nanasaheb Peshwa’s (Mohnish Bahl) army, the then leader of the Maratha Empire.
After their victory against the Nizam of Hyderabad, Sadashivrao Bhau is appointed as the empire’s finance minister. Sadashivrao continues to remain an honest subject of Nanasaheb for some time. He soon notices that Rohilla’s Head Najib (Mantra), has the largest amount of tax due. It is soon found that Nijab had joined Ahmad Shah Abdali (Sanjay Dutt) and called him to Delhi to teach the Marathas a lesson.
The Peshwa then appoints Sadashivrao as the commander in chief in the Marathian army under the leadership of his son Vishwas Rao (Abhishek Nigam). The army soon begins their journey to the north for the appending war. Where the Marathas were making alliances along their way, the Afghans also had increased their army tremendously.
The Marathas are successfully able to win Delhi back from the afghans by killing Najib’s general, and soon the movie proceeds to the end, where both the Marathas and the afghans face prepare themselves for the final confrontation.
