Veteran actress Madhoo Shah feels the new generation of actresses should ask for higher pay as they can carry a whole movie alone.
Besides all the glam and glitters, Bollywood is also known to hold a considerable amount of controversies and never-ending debates.
Priyanka Chopra recently triggered the sensitive topic of pay disparity in Bollywood. With her Citadel promotions going on, the actress said she never dreamt of asking for equal pay in Bollywood. She added, “only asked for a little bit more, even that I wouldn’t get ”.
Following the debate, Shaakuntalam starrer Madhoo Shah made a statement. She said actresses like Alia Bhatt , Kangana Ranaut , and Deepika Padukone should ask for higher remuneration.
“Actresses like Kangana Ranaut , Deepika Padukone , and Alia Bhatt are actually pulling crowds to theatres, so they should definitely ask for higher remuneration ,” she said during an interview.
She said that she herself never felt discrimination as most of the movies during her time were action movies. She clarified that back in the day only heroes had the power to pull the audience to the theatre and that they had to work more for their action scenes.

She has made a comeback in the industry after a long break of almost 15 years. When asked about how much change she has experienced after these long years she said that she is proud of the new generation of actresses who are making their mark.
The Shakuntalam actress confessed that she never felt that she was getting paid less because during her generation the movies were led by male actors. She further said no one has ever blamed her as an actress if any movie didn’t do well while the male actors took all the blame. “I was happy just to be on the screen, ” she added.
Madhoo has been part of iconic movies like Roja, Phool Aur Kaante, and Mere Sapno Ki Rani .
