Radhe, a short-tempered person falls for Nirjara. Eventually loses his memory and surrenders himself to the Ashram authority after losing his love interest.
Based on the life story of one of Bala’s friends, who falls in love, and loses his mind, only to end up in a mental asylum, Tere Naam is a 2003 tragic love story that brought Salman Khan and Bhumika Chawla together. Tere Naam was the turning point movie of Salman Khan’s career, and it became a massive hit.
The Storyline of the Movie ‘Tere Naam’ Radhe is an unemployed spoiled young man who does nothing but loiters around his former college throughout the day. One fine day, his eyes landed on Nirjara, the daughter of the priest, and he fell in love with her. Radhe proposes to Nirjara, and she accepts his proposal out of nothing but fear.
However, in their second meeting as a supposed couple, she lets Radhe know of her true feelings about him in front of everyone. She tells him that he is a goon, unemployed, not serious about his future, doesn’t respect others, and that she doesn’t love him. This breaks Radhe’s heart, and he starts trying different things to win Nirjara’s heart.
As the movie moves further, another side of Radhe is discovered where he helps Nirjara’s sister, protects the dumb beggar girl, and does many other kind deeds. Even Nirjara’s fiancé tells her of Radhe’s kind deeds. Slowly and steadily, Radhe manages to impress Nirjara.
But, in a surprising turn of events, Radhe is attacked by a group of hooligans; during the fight, Radhe suffers from brain damage and ends up losing his memory. As the family begins to lose hope, Radhe’s doctor suggests they send him to an Ashram where many such patients have been cured in the past.
At the Ashram, Radhe’s memory returns, but the caretakers at the ashram don’t seem to understand him. At the same time, Radhe’s brother advises Nirjara to not waste her life waiting for Radhe to get better, as there is very little hope and of getting married to Rameshwaram.
Unaware of what’s happening outside, Radhe manages to escape the ashram on the day of Nirjara’s wedding; he reaches her house only to find that she killed herself. The movie ends with heartbroken Radhe allowing the ashram authorities to take him back even after repeated attempts from his friends and family to stop him.
