“Vivah” is one old-school romance tale that sounds too good to be true. But, it is true. I know arranged marriages are not the same anymore, but we can feel the nostalgia for Shahid and Amrita’s film.
Vivah is an “old but gold” sort of Indian Hindi-language romantic movie that broke all the records. It was written and directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya and stars Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao in the pivotal roles, two lovers who met in the setting of arranged marriage but eventually fell in love. It was produced and distributed under the eminent banner of Rajshri Productions. The movie walks you through the Vivah journey of two individuals, all the way from their engagement, then in-between to marriage, and the aftermath.
The storyline of the Movie “Vivah” ‘Vivah’ is the story of Poonam and Prem, played by Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao respectively. They both looked amazing as a couple. And, won many awards for the performances in the movie. All the other actors have given outstanding performances well.
Back to the story, Poonam is an upper-middle-class girl whose parents die in her childhood. After this, Poonam stays with her uncle who loves her very much and is now worried about her marriage, but his wife has a special disliking for Poonam as she is conventionally beautiful when compared to her own daughter, who according to Indian standards is not fair enough bag the good groom without dowry (typical Indian aunt).
Alok Nath is one the favorites of Rajshree Productions when it comes to nailing the role of an innocent old fellow.
The character of Prem is the main hero of the movie. He is the son of a big businessman from Delhi. But the biggest quality of Prem is that despite being the child of such a great father and being well-educated, he has not forgotten his roots. He likes simplicity. And thus he instantly develops a liking for Poonam when he sees her for the first time. They both get engaged on the same day, and then they live their courtship period. Not only do they live it but enjoy it the most along with other family members. It is a sweet love story of a couple who are totally made for each other. But, the ending of the movie is quite emotional. Shahid is the best when it comes to giving emotional movies, for instance, Jersey . Overall it is a great watch.
