When Zoya came to Mumbai she didn’t start acting right away, she worked in the BPO sector for some years before she landed her first modelling assignment.
In 2021 when Raj Kundra was arrested for making pornographic content, Zoya made some revelations about him and his business associate, Umesh Kamat, who was also arrested in the scandal. Zoya revealed that she was asked to audition naked for a role in a web series and if she agrees she will be offered a hefty amount of Rs 70,000 per day for a role in erotic movies. She also revealed that even boys were asked to remove their underwear while auditioning.
In one of her previous interviews, Zoya Rathore also made some revelations about the casting couch in the film industry, she said,
‘People misguide you and whoever comes to Mumbai is asked to compromise. I also met a man who lied to me that I would get a role in a film starring Emraan Hashmi and Kangana Ranaut. He told me that I will have a scene with Emraan Hashmi as well but I will have to compromise. I didn’t compromise and worked on small films. I agree that there were bold scenes in those films but I did not have to sleep with anyone for those roles.’
